This Penn Central double door box car was built for New York Central in the late 1950s before being patched for Penn Central around a decade later. New York Central merged with its rival, the Pennsylvania railroad, in 1968 to form Penn Central, which went bankrupt two years later and was merged into Conrail in 1976.
